Sorted - the step.4 is where the issue was from my side. ‘wp_user_roles’ appeared on page 4 under options. It didn't come up when searching so I wasn't able to update this. Thanks again for the tutorial.

Thanks for this spot on article on changing WordPress table prefix that I find quite useful. Like a few commentator here I'm having login problem.

Followed all the steps and the blog seems to work fine except I can't login. I've revisited all the steps but still can't seem to find what is causing it. I'm using the latest build 3.1.1 and with regards to step.4, can't find 'wp_user_roles'. All other instances changed to new prefix as suggested. Any idea what could cause it? Is there anyone else here who is having this issue with the latest build?

Hi Chris
Thanks for writing, I don't think any future upgrades will be affected. I haven't experienced any such issues.
Regards.

Just curious, is there anything in this process that will hinder future Wordpress upgrades, and/or will these table updates be overwritten by future upgrades?

Thank you for following the instruction and I am glad you had no issues. I would keep all the wp_ in wp_posts. If you have issues with your twitter plugin, then I would suggest you re-install it. And if you uncover any issues, then depending on the issue you might need to make another change in wp_options.
Regards.

I have followed the instruction through and the blog appears to work fine. My question is: When I search "meta_key like 'wp_%'" on the entire database I still have over two hundred matches. Do I need to change all of them? 13 are in what was wp_options, 222 are in what was wp_posts, 9 are in what was wp_ak_twitter. Thank you.

Thank you for posting this. Some might be wondering how to do this on WP multi-site. Simply make the same changes in any tables with "wp_2_" prefixes.
