I received this question: Hi, I am trying to set up Cube Cart shop. I have logged on to their admin before, but then I am blocked and I am receiving these messages when I try to login to their panel again.
“Forbidden You don’t have permission to access /admin on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request”.
I contacted the Cubecart support and they stated that it is possible your server is putting a block on the website.
Background:
As the message indicates, a 403 error is usually an access issue where your browser is receiving this from the server. The only thing you can tell is that you can’t see the file or directory that is indicated in the error message.
We at tdothost.com do not have or put any blocks on any directory.
Here is what I would do:
- Make sure that you are using the same URL that you have used before.
- Check if you have changed the permissions to access that directory, since that
last time you have logged in.
- Take a look at the htaccess file in that directory and the directory above it, and make sure it does not have any entries to prevent directory browsing.
e.g. make sure it doesn’t have “Options -Indexes” in there.
If it does have this, then check with the cube cart folks about it, just to make
sure that you are not breaking any security that they have introduced.
If you still have issues, I will be glad to help.

1Thanks for Your post! I just got locked out of my wordpress blog with this 403 error, when I was modifying sidebar gadgets, it suddenly took too long to update changes, and then I was throwen out, no access to my blog
– I deleted this line, saved, and now got back my access!
After Your post I started to check my .htaccess file – and the very last line told me like “deny access from (my IP)”
